  • In October, WiRED established two Medical Information Centers in Bosnia in areas still recovering from the region's civil war. Funded in large part by the Medtronic Foundation, the centers are on site at medical schools in the cities of Banja Luka and Mostar. Bosnia is a Balkan country that declared independence from Yugoslavia in 1992. War soon erupted and ended in 1995 with the approval of the Dayton Peace Accords. NATO peacekeepers continue their work in Bosnia to assist with stabilization and reconstruction of this country.
