Map of Croatia

The Republic of Croatia is a Balkan country that declared independence from Yugoslavia in 1991. War soon erupted and the ethnic tension between the Serbs and the Croats lasted for the next four years. Although many citizens fled the country, Croatia has demonstrated progress toward financial and political stability.
