South Aisa Earthquake and Tsunami Disaster
We at WiRED offer our deep sympathies to all the victims, their families and communities that have suffered from this natural disaster. Health care professionals in South Asia are on the front lines - -responding to injuries, diseases and public health risks. They need be in constant communication. Our preliminary plans call for WiRED's Medical Information and Communication Centers (MICC) to be installed in hospitals and other medical facilities. These Internet-connected, satellite-based systems will become part of a new medical infrastructure that will serve this impoverished region in the years ahead. We are in the preliminary stages of planning with some of our partners and will keep you informed as plans progress.

WiRED welcomes Anderson D. Clark to the Board of Trustees
Having recently retired as Vice Chairman of the Board and Senior Vice President of Energy Storage Technologies Inc., Mr. Clark is continuing his long career of entrepreneurial public service, focusing on private and public sector resource development. His experience developing major corporate and political sponsorships for educational and artistic projects makes him a welcomed addition to the WiRED Board of Directors.

WiRED salutes its volunteers
WiRED is unique in its delivery of services because we do not employ paid staff members in the U.S. After earning an MBA from Thunderbird, The American Graduate School of International Management, serving in the Peace Corps, working abroad for 10 years, and owning an import wholesale business, Brian Jacobson approached WiRED to volunteer as a writer. He has been a valuable member of WiRED's fundraising and research team since November 2001. In addition to adding great value to our work, Brian's volunteer role led him to his current position as Individual Gifts Coordinator with the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.
