On November 2, 2026 the Kisumu West Sub-County (MOH) sent representative Dr. Collins Omollo to monitor the WiRED International’s Community Health Worker Training (CHW) session in Lela village in Kisumu, Kenya.
Dr. Omollo officially opened the training session and came to assess the progress of the training, provide technical guidance and offer support and encouragement to the participants and instructors.
The visit aimed at ensuring that CHWs acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively deliver community-level health services and strengthen primary healthcare at the household and community levels. The visit also aimed at strengthening the partnership between the MOH and WIRED.
Dr. Omollo holds a degree in Pharmacy from The University of Nairobi with 15 years’ experience in the field of health. He is currently the Medical Officer of Health (MOH) for the Kisumu West Sub-County. His role is to coordinate sub-county health services, supporting disease prevention and control, supervising public health programs, monitoring healthcare delivery in health facilities and coordinating health workers and community health programs.

In his speech Dr. Omollo said that WIRED’s approach to CHW training was top notch because WIRED is supporting the mission of the Department of Health in Kisumu County, which is responsive, sustainable, technologically driven, evidence-based and client centered.
He added that these interventions help the government reduce costs. For example, in uncomplicated malaria a CHW can treat the patient at home, reducing the need for people to crowd in hospitals, take hours of staff time and pay a lot of fees. This reduces time spent in clinic and hospital queues. If a patient displays defined signs and symptoms, CHWs are trained to refer patients immediately for higher-level care. This CHW training also strengthens client-centered care by providing treatment for people who are sick but are unable to reach the clinic or hospital. Dr. Omollo supports WiRED’s work in Kisumu County and gave his blessing to the training session.
