Love Your Planet!

By Allison Kozicharow; Edited by Elizabeth Fine

April 22 is Earth Day. WiRED International board members, staff and volunteers wish everyone a meaningful Earth Day.

We encourage you on this day and every day to:

  • Reduce, reuse and recycle
  • Start a compost pile
  • Volunteer to help clean up something in your community
  • Conserve water
  • Plant a tree
  • Educate yourself and others on saving natural resources
  • Use cloth shopping bags
  • Walk and bike more, drive less
  • Go outside
“The more clearly we can focus our attention on the wonders and realities of the universe about us, the less taste we shall have for destruction.”
― Rachel Carson

Ever since the first Earth Day in 1970, each year Earth Day voices our global environmental consciousness, calls the world to action against climate change and reminds us that human, animal and planet health are part of the same system. Rachel Carson wrote in Silent Spring: “In nature, nothing exists alone.”

As we celebrate Earth Day and the beautiful world we enjoy, let us not forget that to improve our own health, we must improve the health of the environment on which all life depends.
