This year is like no other for underserved regions of the world whose populations struggle to survive. In 2025 the U.S. Administration suspended global aid programs that offer vaccines, medicines and infrastructure, especially for preventable diseases.

In response, WiRED International considerably expanded our health training projects to address the growing health challenges faced by populations where we train and support community health workers (CHWs). But to meet these growing needs, we ask for your help!

WiRED’s new strategy centers around our community health worker (CHW) trainings in many ways:

  • Expanding our programs through the creation of dozens of new training modules and continuing medical education features;
  • Enhancing our free health education phone app, HealthMAP for Android and iOS;
  • Increasing the number of CHW training sessions fourfold;
  • Creating educational animations to engage students, teachers and families in understanding and preventing disease;
  • Partnering with NGOs, universities and more.

November 27 is Thanksgiving Day in the United States. While we give thanks for the blessings in our lives, we also remember the people in need who live in our own communities and around the world. For the fortunate, Thanksgiving means a bountiful meal, but for far too many living in low-resource communities, this day and every day lead to starvation from food scarcity, as well as disease, political conflict and climate change-linked extreme weather — and now lack of substantial global health aid.

WiRED has operated for almost 30 years on a modest budget augmented by dedicated volunteers all over the world who give their time and talent so that 95% of our funds can GO DIRECTLY to our programs. Due to global aid program cuts, WiRED has committed to an ambitious agenda. Our expanded response to this growing crisis is straining our limited resources. If we are to succeed, we genuinely need your generous support!
